Actually it isn't really the rain, floods or droughts that count. It's the amount of arable land available for crops which is dropping substantially which is going to cause a MAJOR GLOBAL food shortage.

This in turn will boost the prices of ALL Agrifood dramatically which in turn will

A. Give the farmers that extra incentive to apply more fertilizer to increase yields

and

B. Increase demand for all agri products.

Prices have to start rising soon because the longer that they stay at low levels the greater the food shortage will be.

That's what the enquiry to the senate should be about by the way. It should be asking why the prices of the corn, wheat etc aren't high enough to be profitable enough instead of complaining about high fertilizer costs. Increase the price of the crop and that solves ALL problems!
