Hi helmenesh mulac1 and others. Exciting times.......
Would just like to add possible explanations for the (seemingly) slow(ish) progress at times to help those not familiar with how much work is potentially involved in some of these processes.
I noticed in the announcement that mad 185 was blocked upon re entry. This may have lead to numerous attempts to clear and re enter.
I'm guessing that down here the fault might be the cause of bad ground which may or may not respond to simple redrill or a process of mud or conditioner to keep the hole open for re entry. Numerous trips in and out with the rod string could well result. After many trips it may prove an impossible task, as, in this case it appears as though it may have been. They dont just "give up" on a hole that at that depth would already owe you many thousands of dollars.
Pulling the rod line even at only 300-400 metres takes time when you are probably pulling 6 metres at a time.
The other thing I noticed was that they were surveying every 30 metres or so. In my day this would mean, out with the rods remove the barrel, attach the non magnetic (usually aluminium) addition (forgotten the technical term) that the camera is to land in, then re insert the rod line.
At these depths and deeper this all takes time.
In good going they might be doing this twice per shift. In bad going, ie going through the fault, it might be taking time to proceed carefully through that tight spot without causing grief. eg filling the camera tube up with mud/clay or worse having to deal with a cave in or possible abandonment, etc.
The camera needs to be accurately "landed" to make sure it protrudes past the magnetic influence of the rod line as the assembly contains a compass to establish the direction and perspective accurately.
You then take the photo of the compass which in my day was on a timer. Of course if you have delays getting through the obstruction, which you may, or may not know of on the first trip, the camera may fire before the camera has landed and the whole process needs to be modified to suit the conditions or at the very least, repeated.
Challenging work at times as I am sure you can appreciate.......
Hope this helps some tolerate the "delays".
Lucky.
