Jet I agree there’s a lot to lose if that’s how it plays out and you have to hope that wiser heads will prevail. I’m just simply describing very typical patterns of abuse and everything about his style marks him out as a narcissistic and abusive person. These patterns are well studied and, sadly, show remarkable consistency among different players.
I do agree that failure is one of the most potent hits to the narcissistic ego. They can’t bear it. There is also some interesting work around narcissism and suicide but though there is some correlation in different age groups they may also simply dig in on their self definition. We may see a surface return to the semi civilised public persona that he used in the get past to get what he wanted but the anger and resentment may simultaneously eat him up
for sure it may be ugly, or not. But it will be interesting at least.
