If they can shorten the grow season by growing them faster then potentially you can lengthen the harvest time. CSIRO invention but Ridley is developing Novaq which claims to do just that. Grow them quicker to size or grow them bigger if you leave them in the water.
I found it very interesting and you can check it out on the Ridley website, or google Novaq and the CSIRO site is very good too.
