Really? That's just nonsense. Lots of people do and often for good personal reasons. It just depends what you value. A christian may choose faith choices over money. But then its well known that by scapegoating people can be illegitimately influenced by political forces to vote against those inflated prejudices.
Perhaps you are imposing your own psychology upon the external world.
