Now, all of this for gold means that COVID in and of itself is largely irrelevant. No vaccine can save us because there was no virus to save us from in the first place.

The thing that we need to be saved from is the idea that we can lock down an economy because a few people get the sniffles. A vaccine won't change that - even if it is fraudulently made to look like it works as I explain above. In fact, an ostensibly successful vaccine will make the problem worse as governments will be *less* reluctant to shut down economies for future viruses because they will believe that a vaccine will always be around the corner.

There is no coming back from all this. Ever. Lockdowns will now be the standard response to all cases of people getting the sniffles from now on. This will, and has to, happen until all nations are bankrupt. It could potentially have been solved at the ballot box but the Queensland and New Zealand elections make this highly unlikely. The fact is that people like Skol vote and people like Skol make up the majority of the population. People like Skol are easily manipulated into fear and hysteria and people like Skol have said to every government that they will happily accept bankruptcy, unemployment and a police state in order to protect them from a non-existent virus.

There is no threshold here. It doesn't matter how bad the economies get, politicians simply cannot afford to let go of their promise to protect 100% of the population from death. Indeed, the worse the economies get, the more emotionally and politically invested the pro-lockdown crowds get in ensuring they see through their lunacy until the very end.

Hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the next time a "novel" virus [how on earth did the scientists know that COVID-19 was novel?] comes along, there'll be no political pressure on governments to save every 100 year old from dying. Good luck with that. And good luck with believing that our economies will shoot to the moon and our debts will disappear the moment a vaccine gets approved.
