Monthly fee is only if there is outstanding balance for the purchases made that month at the end of the month, if the monthly debt is cleared there is no fee. I've been using it to smooth out the lumpiness in my cash flow for 18 months, never paid a monthly fee.
Z1P makes their money from the merchant fees not by charging a nominal fee to numpties that are too disorganised to pay back their loan. That monthly fee is more about mitigation and opportunity loss from not being able to turn over that capital.
