There is a major flaw with your assumption,
The new production method is simply converting the carbon in the petroleum into graphene and recovering the contained hydrogen, if the feedstock s produced and transported by renewable energy, the production of hydrogen is "Green". Claiming the Hazer process is better is narrow-minded.
