    This is the result of one investigation.
    Richard Steggall was the person who tried to help out Newtel in its darkest hour.

    Sydney - Thursday -June 10 : (RWE) Mr Richard Steggall, 27
    years old of South Yarra, Victoria, was yesterday convicted and fined
    $5000 after he pleaded guilty in the Melbourne Magistrates Court to two
    counts of managing a corporation while disqualified.
    He was also found guilty on three counts of lodging false and
    misleading documents with the Australian Securities and Investments
    Commission .
    As a result of today's conviction, Mr Steggall is automatically
    banned from managing corporations for a further five years from
    yesterday.
    The decision comes following an investigation by ASIC into his
    Mr Steggall's role as a director of several companies.
    Mr Steggall was banned from managing corporations for five
    years from May 12, 2000 following convictions on theft, deception and
    other related charges.
    However, he acted as a director of Stegtel Trade & Equities Pty
    Ltd between September 2000 and February 2002, and acted in a management
    role at Broadband & Wireless Pty Ltd between July 2002 and 31 January
    2003.
    In 2001, Mr Steggall lodged three 'Notification of Change of
    Officeholders' forms with ASIC for three separate companies appointing
    himself as a director of each company.
    The forms he lodged with ASIC contained alias names along with
    a false date of birth.
    The matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of
    Public Prosecutions.
