Anyone positing the theory that the WBT technology can't be as good as it seems otherwise it would have been bought out by now needs to get a grip.
A big company will just wait until any and all doubt that the product is indeed the step-change that it appears to be before they step up.
They would have no interest in taking part in this stage of development and it would be a waste of resources to duplicate in some way, systems and knowledge that already exist to do so .
An offer of $5b or so 18 months or so down the track is still pocket change.
It wouldn't be my preferred outcome though.
