opinion on ponting

Now I am a vested fan of the Australian cricket team, and since the day I was born, have loved the game. Have played at high levels, studied it closely and follow it with unabated interest. So please do not doubt my love for the game, or for the Australian cricket team, by posing this question. In fact I pose it now when the team and country still bask in the glory of their recent hard fought victory.

My question is this.....Should Ricky Ponting be the Australian Captain?

Make no mistake, he will only leave that position, IMO of course, upon his retirement, or following an unprecedented loss of form....but really is he the best person in the team, or the country, to lead the side....

There is no arguing his record as a batsmen....it is magnificent....but IMO he is not the brilliant, or even capable, captain some hold him to be, and that has not been more exposed since the departure of Warne, Gilchrist and Hayden....whilst those three undoubtably brought considerable individual skill to the game....their insight into the game itself was even more valuable....

It's just a question....does anyone have an opinion????
