On the back of the previous septic associated Ards and TBI recently discussed, here are some more interesting and fun facts while we wait

Knowing that there is s very little completed research and published information in this regard (which may be the avenue of research IHL is pursuing) there is now a known associated link between IL 6, inflammation and known psychiatric disorders....as well as elevated levels of anxiety and stress / stress susceptibility....evidence and data is mounting and a quick search will confirm this.

Psychedelics have proven to demonstrate a therapeutic effect as a treatment and the research and positive outcomes are driving these new and emerging treatments ( as we have seen through the posters here on the threads) into disorders that include but are not limited to OCD, addiction, anxiety, PTSD and as mentioned, depression.

So inflammation is a 'repair' / healing response against foreign and potentially invading agents - covid 19 as we know as well as all others - immune cells are released recruited to the site of 'injury' or intrusion - resulting in inflammation through the release of cytokines (potentially the key 5 but specifically identified IL 6 which is one of these) which we know is also an offending inflammatory agent in TBI and septic associated Ards.

Psychedelics are now being recognised for their anti inflammatory effect by initiating a well known serotonin receptor 5-HT2A.
By activating this receptor it is theorised and believed the response will be an alleviated and rapidly reduced depression, with a return to healthy network normalcy. (central nervous system normalcy as well as localised normalcy)

This is followed by observed reduced levels of inflammatory cytokine IL 6 which potentially goes some way to understanding the alleviated depressive state found in psychedelic treatments. IL 6 is associated with and symptomatic of depressive disorders.

Imagine for a minute what the potential in the other mentioned disorders and afflictions may well prove to be with these potential psychedelic treatments, huge I would think.
