TO'S ONSIDE AT ARROWSMITH -- AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL and ethnographic survey over VRX Silica’s Arrowsmith North and Arrowsmith Central silica sand projects halfway between Perth and Geraldton by Amangu representatives of the Yamatji Nation and Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation has cleared both projects for works on initial mining and critical infrastructure areas. According to VRX Silica managing director Bruce Maluish the survey found no isolated artifacts and made no onerous heritage recommendations. He said preliminary advice from YMAC confirms work can start on Arrowsmith North's access road, services corridor and production area for 10 years of production. Work can also be carried out at Arrowsmith Central to develop the production and infrastructure areas for five years of production. "With the grant of mining leases for Arrowsmith North and Arrowsmith Central expected imminently, obtaining Aboriginal heritage clearance for our proposed works on both projects is an important step forward for their development," Maluish said. "This continues our strong and supportive relationship and consultative approach with the local Yamatji Nation people and YMAC."
