Look like April could be the month of reckoning, if the US changes its rules on Mark to market other countries will follow suit. Personally I don't see them getting rid of M2M, but a compromised future (non recession) premium value might be applied as a percentage to current (recession, firesale) market value.

However it will be extremely hard for it to be implemented and already there have been calls for M2M to be kept in place:
