'BIT225 is inactive against HIV-2, which lacks Vpu, and displays a cell culture EC50 (concentration that gives half-maximal response) of ∼2 μM against HIV-1, with improved efficacy against macrophage-tropic compared with T-cell-tropic strains. As with HMA, the binding mode and inhibitory mechanism of this small molecule are unknown, and resistant polymorphisms in Vpu have not been reported.'
