When I was a very young person (pre-school) we had a magneto-phone. As children are wont to do, I used to pick up the receiver and say "Send the police to No.1 Clifford St." to intimidate my siblings, knowing that you had to crank the magneto to contact the exchange ladies.
One day, unbeknownst to me, the phone system was changed to semi-automatic, where lifting the receiver tripped a relay at the exchange ...
