I am surrounded with half million dollar boats and they all have problems of one kind or another with their dunnies -
I'm the only one that has ZERO problems -- it's the only way to go IMO and in the opinions of all other composting owners who use them to spec - which is easy.
I use peat moss as the material to load it with before use --------- I had trouble finding that in the leadup to my apx. annual supply buying -but, as luck would have it - when I was down to 6 weeks to run - a supplier appeared - it came from the UK - I carry enough to go for almost a year.
All other systems are hugely problematic in internal waters.
