For once I agree with you zzedzz. The opinion of an economist shouldn't be treated with much weight when debating the science.
However the same conference is being attended by 2,500 delegates including the world's leading scientific experts and Lord Stern's pronouncements are based on their findings.
Dr Katherine Richardson, who chaired the scientific steering committee that organised the conference, said the research presented added new certainty to the IPCC reports.
"We've seen lots more data, we can see where we are, no new surprises, we have a problem."
