IMO, China is right to have grievances against Aus. And as the article rightly says, our history of depriving Chinese nationals from the 1800's gold rush to the White Aus policy has damaged our standing with China and made us a target.
More recently our support for sinophobic Trump has exacerbated our standing with China.
Our national hypocrisy hasn't helped either - we accuse China, rightly, of human rights violations while we commit significant human rights violations against asylum seekers and immigrants as well as our fist Australians. Honestly we are no better than the Chinese yet we pretend to take a moral stand.
