Tim mentioned today that residential battery rebates by government do not currently include flow batteries. He also mentioned that residential customers would need two batteries (due to maintenance cycle) and this would put them in the "high end residential" basket.
Tim has previously mentioned the residential market is dominated by people buying on price. For the time being, RFX would be wasting resources trying to compete against lithium in the residential market.
At today's AGM, Tim did highlight the growing opportunity in large scale grid solutions for longer term storage. Apparently lithium is completive up to 4-6 hours. After that, flow batteries have a great opportunity to take market share.
