Two days before those dates you posted had: 555,956 and 347,167new short positions.
This is minute when compared to the traded volume.
The short reporting to ASIC visible via Shortman is a joke.
The shorts closed up 0.03% on Friday the 20th of November when the SP climbed 37c?
Yeah - right!

@bedger I have to agree with @dolcevita - who is policing these numbers?
Especially when we look at what was reported on the 16th of Novemener, the day when there was an ASX system crash - the reported shorted volume to ASIC was higher than the day's traded volume - what!!!
