As a person who was caught up in the "work choices" legislation, I can tell you that the legislation had the effect of allowing an employer to sack a worker for no good reason other than to site "for operational reasons".

In my case, I made a complaint regarding the site I was working on {it was unsafe} and Worksafe made an order to the employer regarding the site after inspection.

They {the employer} never forgave me.

By way of retribution, my employer set out to make my life a misery at the time which of course is against the law but Worksafe did nothing to protect me.

Never, and I mean never delude yourself or anyone else that Worksafe will protect those who make justified complaint regarding their unsafe workplace.

My employer at the time then sacked me using "for operational reasons" as the excuse and under "Work Choices" they could.

    Disgraceful.
