the glee on display over landlords raising rents on hard working people is rather sickening imo. you see it on full display on news.com.au and various property forums. imagine what it must be like for pensioners or other people on fixed income being told your rent is going up 40 bucks, then 20, then 30 more. this can make the difference of buying food and medication of a week for these people.

i had my rent increased 10 bucks 13 months ago. no big deal. my next door neighbour at her previous place had the landlord try and put it up 200 a week so she moved immediately in protest. apparently the place was still on the market at the higher price 10 weeks later. maybe that'll teach the landlord a lesson over being greedy.

one of these days tenants will just start trashing places by being pushed to far by greedy landlords. its certainly happened before during tough times.
