Redmoki- agree with you on that. We have to KNOW that the product is superior to presently available technology, if so then it is surely worth throwing more money at with a different management. From my observations the Americans are "worried" about this technology, that seems to me to be the reason that the American analysts bag it at every opportunity. They would gladly see it gone.
In my view PC's management were very transparent with the issue of the Field Safety Notice, and years ago with the recall for similiar lead issues.Thoratec have had similiar problems and it is interesting that they took so long to declare it.I don't think that for either company that this is a serious long term unsolvable/manageable problem and it is only common sense that there will be some weak point with such a system. It does not condemn the overall picture, which for the majority seems to be a remarkable improvement in quality of life.
VCR had the runs on the board in that respect, as do Thoratec to a lesser degree, The FDA will want competition in this space and if THOR takeover HIN ( maybe that won't happen if VCR go bust)there will not be any for years to come.Stating the obvious but it seems that if VCR get their ducks in a row then I can't see the FDA slowing them too much with their BTT approval from hereon. The loss of confidence in the company ( now they are only implanting at a "moderate" rate)must be addressed by a new management.
Going forward depends on us knowing with full confidence that this product is better than presently available technology.
