I read that there are currently on Australian Roads an approximately registered 19.8 million vehicles and of that number ONLY 14,000 electric vehicles. We all know that the ICE vehicles are one of the biggest polluters so why not think of making a successful transition to EV to minimise pollution as quickly as possible and consider the short term loss of the excise as one of the incentives? Once the transition is made then consider changes to recoup the loss in excise? It simply is a money grab. Desperate. It tells me that the politicians, state and federal simply don’t want to make a change to EVs.
Who could ever forget Scomo with his lump of coal in the federal parliament? Part of the Carbon Club? Climate deniers.
