I think it may be due to Senate and Congress not being able to agree on the stimulus plan. However not sure why this would affect gold price. Perhaps no stimulus mean no money going into the economy and therefore inflation expectation is tempered?
Perhaps it is just a short term correction after the recent run-up (more likely reason).
