12.50 calls are cheap and yes could work well if you get the direction right. I dont know the delta of this. It will probably be less than an in the money call. So the movement to the upside is less.

But there is nothing wrong with chosing an out of the moeny call as 12.50 as it is only slightly out of the money.
In my case I was a bit rushed to get into this trade and I must admit that I would have not got the best 2 strikes. I do work full time so it can get a bit daunting when one has to do spread calcs and delta calcs.

You are on the right track. Stick to it. If not one tends to forget certain rules with spreads.
