    I am not too sure about your comment that "speeding offences are simply used to generate income for the government.

    I hope you are not suggesting that it is acceptable to break the laws by speeding?

    The trouble that I see with speeding is that authorities have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. There is no doubt that excess speed contributes to a large percentage of traffic smashes. And, there seem to be a lot of people who have total disregard for traffic laws. I am not talking about the drivers who get booked a couple of kms over the limit either. The irresponsible minority who have no regard for the safety of others,in my view, are just killers in waiting.

    The issue for the new Transport Minister is that she has to set a good example, which means that she will have to cleanse her soul with a carefully constructed bit of spin.

    I wish her luck on that.
