Further digging today on the conference that is upcoming in April. Sadly G24i is no longer pushed as a major sponsor, so maybe we wont get the nice ann. we were hoping for, or perhaps we have a habit of reading too much into everything :)

Notable entries (from my perspective)

Consumer Electronics: Sony, LG
Automotive: Toyota, Hyundai (their steel arm who makes the steel sheeting used in cars is attending, not the actual car brand)
Other: Merck?, BASF, G24i, Loads of unis / Govt bodies, a couple of other players in the DSC space.

Another that just jumped out at me, Bosch.. interesting.. DSC power drills?

Anyway, interesting list that leads to a lot of nice speculation.
Strange part of the world to put a conference, Ive been to Nara twice, and although beautiful, there are easier parts of the world to organise visits to. Japanese accomodation hasnt caught onto the whole internet thing yet. It has certainly netted a strong asian presence at the conference though, good markets to be tapping.
