@Southoz is a statistical expert and what he says should be taken seriously, but in some sense he is focusing too much on the statistical issues with the trial design and not enough on the strong mortality signal. A 60% reduction in mortality in a well powered Phase III RCT for an indication where nothing else works is not likely to be due to chance.
