I recently purchased a tv (only 32) but found avforums a really good resource.
In the end take some footage that you know well into a store and see what looks best, but beware store staff generally make the tv delivering the best profit look the best.
I went with a Sony not hd because it was a great price and I am led to believe that at any size below 40" HD isnt noticeable.
Also I found deciding what the highest priority for your tv usage is a good way to filter the pack. ie if its going to be used as a monitor, mainly for movies, sport etc.
Once you have worked out the primary use it should make it easier to narrow down the selection.
For the record my Sony has been great. I would definitely recommend it.
