The large buying of iron ore is one of the things bothering me, it isn't like they have a construction boom happening right now, and yes Taiwan is on the radar. It feels like a preparation for something bigger than just more tension. I keep asking myself why have they pulled back from trying to acquire commercial interests in Li mines, not just stopped investing but pulling their existing cash out. If it is going to be business as usual for the foreseeable future surely that is something they need to keep securing?

I'm probably just being paranoid. Maybe they just decided that buying up Oz Li mines was just too hard in a trade dispute, and maybe the debt burden from all that investing in the last couple of years has just become too great for them, but the Solar Winds hack is a very big deal - it is the security network software used for many US gov departments, military and the strategic nuclear weapons storage, not to mention a part of the dominion voting system. If the CCP is responsible for the breach it will be seen by the US as an act of war, well at least by those parts not already compromised (which admittedly doesn't seem to be much of the US gov anymore). There is some really crazy stuff going on under the covers at the moment, and the mass of the population and media seem blissfully (or deliberately) ignorant of it.

If they keep buying spod from GXY in super large quantities for the next couple of months (maybe stockpiling?) it should be good for our SP in the short term, but I would be a lot happier if we were feeding to somewhere else in the longer term. An invasion of Taiwan is going to trigger all sorts of hell.

SDV may become even more strategic to the company than it already is.
