Thanks mach8 for the interesting reply from Zeff. Well, I am glad to see that Zeff appears to agree with me, at least to some extent.
Another reason why the "g/m" metric can be misleading as a yardstick is that it does not include any weighting at all for downhole depth. Depth form surface is assuredly a measure of quality.
For example, 50m @ 2g/t from surface is a completely different ballgame compared with 50m @ 2g/t from 300m depth. Yet both show up identically as "100 g/m". Not useful.
The typical standard for downhole reporting is depth, number of metres, gold grade in g/t. The "g/m" metric adds absolutely nothing to the available information because it is mathematically derived from the typical downhole report which, incidentally, I think is quite easy on its own for most people to understand, even me.
I must make it very clear that I am definitely not saying that there was anything intentionally misleading in today's announcement. The world is full of myths that are genuinely believed by those who believe in them. Also, each person has their own opinions and their own reasons for their opinions. In my opinion, it is a myth that the "g/m" metric is useful. I accept that many others genuinely disagree. If some people think it is an appropriate and useful yardstick then they are welcome to think so.
While I am personally not happy with the use of the "g/m" yardstick, this is the reason why today I changed my sentiment from hold to sell, this being my personal sentiment and is not necessarily advice that I would give to anybody else. Season's greetings and best of luck to all who remain. Based on past experience, I can confidently guess that the SP will go skyrocketing as soon as I have sold my holding.
