eight years is an optimistic time line for any govt project, let alone one this size
it will reach into almost every neighbourhood, requiring local council assent,EIS documents filed, trenches built with consequent disruption, weather related delays etc etc
if things go wonky, cost overruns will be a certainty...what was the last govt. project that didn't run over budget?
eg. the tugun byppass on the gold coast had an original budget of 35 million..wound up costing 200 million and was 3 years late...this for a 5k stretch of road
how will taxpayers and debt markets feel if similar cost blowouts happen to NBN
in 8 years there will be HUGE advances in wireless technology...if i'm telstra not sure i want to jump right in bed with this govt on this project
