There are a handful of posters who post virtually the same (mostly off topic but certainly low content) material on these Telstra threads day in day out.

A few of us made the point some years ago that:
    1. Malcolm's nbn MTM model was a waste of money and wouldn't deliver a return
    2. It would squeeze profitability out of the sector making life difficult for Telstra

At the time those comments were generally howled down with a lot of comments to the effect that it would be a boon for Telstra because their mobile broadband would become competitive.

There's no point banging on about it every day but for anyone genuinely interested in the discussion and a comparison with NZ (which delivered fast broadband to everyone) enough time has passed to compare the outcomes. The nbn as it's been built here for anyone not on Fibre has arguably delivered worse broadband than if it had never been started. A colossal waste of money and it's trashed Telstra's share price as many said it would.

I posted here then and I'm posting here now because I have over 20 years in the industry and I'm interested in the topic. Most with any real telco experience could see this was always the likely outcome and a few of us said so. I'm not saying TLS will continue to head down although I personally find it hard to see how they can substantially improve their margins or market share. If we had ubiquitous fast broadband there would have been an opportunity for Telstra to build/leverage value add at scale above that. The MTM killed that opportunity by making the provision of such services too difficult/expensive. It literally killed the platform for innovation.

If people are more threatened and annoyed by a very occasional factual comparison with NZ and Spark (because it threatens their world view) rather than the echo chamber that passes for comments on here most days I think it says more about the fixed views of those individuals.
