Hard to fathom how he secured a bonus last year. I personally can't think of anything that warranted it - except perhaps passing the FDA checks (although, so what if you are not making any income!).
As for the 2009 year, I would have thought that a bonus of around minus 100% of salary would be close to the mark. Anything more would be a gross overcompensation.
Director's fees of zero would also be appropriate given the current state of progress.
