Just have a look at the US/China wage multiples movement graph in the link below which the author says accounts
in part for Trumpism
https://thenewdaily.com.au/finance/2021/01/05/michael-pascoe-wages-graph-globalisation/?utm_source=Adestra&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Morning%20News%20-%2020210106
We (in Aus) are facing a similar phenomonon by now having over 15 FTAs* with lower wage jurisdictions
which will depress our workers wages and increase the current unacceptable wealth gap.
In Aus the non-trade working class is experiencing a similar drop in real wages which may account for the
hoards of Trump supporters on these threads who like their US counterparts, fail to see that there has to be
a fair distribotion of wealth resulting from Globalisation/FTAs,
Add to the downward pressure on wages by these FTAs , successive Governments have surpassed trade unionism
aided and abetted by the Unions themselves who had overlooked corrupt officialdom for a generation.
Middle class Trade Unions like the AMA, The Law Societies etc have been left unscathed.
For example a person on $19/hr minimum wage visiting their GP has to pay half the GP's fee (gap)
while the GP earns up to $500,000 per year, half of which is paid by the taxpayer.
Has the Comm Governments attacked the AMA and dismantled its agressive "Trade Unionism"
which ensures limited entrants and growing consultation "gap payments"
The answer is a blunt no.
Why? Perhaps some of the Trump supporters on this thread can answer why?
Add to that , the minimum wage earner has likely contributed to the GPs education* via PAYE tax.
While a doctor has to pay back his/her HECs, this does not represent the real cost of this education
because the taxpayer has to underwrite the accrued interest & domestic students pay lower fees,
(thanks to Government subsidies) than does their Foreign Student counterparts who pay the full costs.
But I suppose it takes a high IQ to be a GP while that may be an impairment to being a dedicated
Trump supporter..eh?
* We already had about 7 FTA and Morrison added ASEAN as a block a month ago
Just imagine an Aussie worker on $19/hr competing with his/her indonesian counterpart
on quarter that!
