Hanrahan is right that if water was to be diverted it would need to be done during only a few weeks of the year when the northern rivers are in flood and I don't think that is possible. It would mean making the volume of Sydney Harbour flow uphill every day during those few weeks. The rest of the year the water is useful where it is and should not be diverted. The problems of southern cities and the Murray Darling require more local solutions than taking water from somewhere else. Dave R.
