    It is the government's priority, fast broadband was an item that it took to the people in the last election. Yes, sure, and yea, the amount was $4b at the time and the current model will require much larger sum, but mind you, to be spread over the period of construction. The final finance from the government may be much smaller, depending on private sector take up of equity in the entity to be set up.

    Some of us will put up arguments against the project, some will put up arguments for. But, at the end of the day, the government has decided to go ahead with this project, and, for me, I will wait for more details to be available before forming an opinion as to whether it is too expensive.

    Conceptually, I am all for this project. Of course others will have somewhat different views.

    I responded to your earlier post because of your comment about people being able then in the future to download much faster movies, etc etc, which it seems to me you were belittleling (spelling ?) the project.
