I don't think anyone is saying phages have been discounted and Monash are wasting their time. I guess it comes back to the fact that this is why rce is currently "only" 193 million market cap. Only my opinion but if we actually knew Rce 327 worked and had no tox or off target effects the share price would be $10 plus . I liked the story of Rce because I had seen how hard it had been for other companies that had tried to attack anti biotic resistant hospital grade bacteria. Many had tried and failed. Rce is such a totally different and innovative mode of action, just needs to be proven safe and effective.

Rce is absolutely one of quite a few avenues of research. From what I understand the thing that still remains to be seen is what effect Rce has on "good bacteria".

One of the advantages of phages apparently is they are quite specific to the target bacteria they are matched with.
Apparently they may also be able to break through certain forms of biofilms which protect some bacteria. For Rce i believe this would not be an issue with iv sepsis but may be with burns, depending on how it is administered. One would assume the testing they have done to date has given them the confidence to go into these trials expecting good results, i can't believe they would be just "seeing how it goes"
We Should find out a lot about what Rce can and can't do when we get results on burns. Should be a big move either way depending on results. If results are good that virtually gives one path to market with a high need possibly orphan designation product for untreatable infections before we even get to main target of sepsis.
