To answer your questions directly, I am an atheist, in that I do not believe in a creator God nor ascribe to life after death or rebirth or reincarnation, etc.
However, I do subscribe to a religion, namely, Buddhism.
Pure Buddhism is a scientific religion and its core subject matter is two things, namely, suffering and freedom from suffering.
Buddhism is based in verifable principles of cause & effect.
