A literal reading of the constitution makes no mention of convicting a private citizen.
Unless he's convicted in the senate when it resumes on the 19th, which would have to without any evidence being presented, then he'll be out of office already when it finally does get dealt with in the senate.
Democrats wasting time, money and political capital on a fruitless quest imo.
