Actually, there are some good things to come out of mining Nifty. The experience of trying to deliniate where the copper was around it's fault used some seismic techniques being one less used in geophysics. That cheap and relatively quick can be used to some good effect effect in generally locating the (dis)placement of the carbonate units at Renison.
The key mistake that I (and others) made was to believe that with MLX's experience in underground mining of Renison would mean they could do it at Nifty. Similarly because Milan Jerkovic had been successful at Straits ( including Triton which is still being mined). He would have made the right call about Nifty. I was wrong on both counts. The former typified by Cookie's (Peter Cook's) boast '"we're miners we'd would mine Sh**t if it made a dollar".
All hard lessons I had to learn. (Theoretically the harder the caning the better one retains the point). [My lecturers never taught me that.] Although they were circumspect about my enthusiasm about investing in early stage mining.
