The Secretary of Mining and Energy of the Ministry of Production and Sustainable Development, Ricardo Alonso, held a meeting with managers of the company Puna Mining Lithium, to analyze details about the Mining Promotion Law and to know the commercial and productive progress made in recent months by this company.
The project located in Salar del Rincón in the Los Andes department produces per month 4 tons of battery grade lithium carbonate with 99.8% purity, a value that exceeds the internationally traded standard of 99.5%.

Representatives of the company reported that they have a second export ready for a new customer in the Asian market. The commercial operation comprises a complete container of 20 tons of high purity lithium carbonate.
The production and commercial process was achieved by complying with strict biosecurity protocols, despite retraining the activity as a result of the health emergency situation.
Secretary Alonso stressed that it is excellent news for the Province, which demonstrates the entrepreneur's effort to maintain activity under unusual conditions such as the covid-19 pandemic. "From the Government we value this commitment and support any action that promotes Salta's economic and social growth," he emphasized.
Entrepreneurs also announced that they are in search of capital to set up a $25 million plant in the salt flat, with the aim of expanding production to 2,000 tons per year.
The miner owns 2,346 hectares in the Rincón salt flat and lithium processing takes place in the town of Campo Quijano, where the largest number of suppliers and personnel come from.
Lithium carbonate is a high value-added product comprising a complex production process that takes 18 months until the brine is concentrated by evaporation, from which the mineral is obtained.
