I’ve been watching the short interest with great interest, largely out of my own curiosity to try to figure out what the counterparty is thinking and how they operate. I must confess I have absolutely no idea what they are thinking, but I have noticed that about 2% of the shorts have been covered since the last little run up, I’m not sure when exactly they update the ASIC data (if you actually look through and try to match the volumes to when the shorts notified ASIC, it doesn’t seem to match- at least as far as I can tell). There is still a huge volume of shares sold short, and with the reported results from other retailers, and given the impossibility of actually covering the massive float short given the average daily volume of this stock- if it was me I would be doing the proverbial in my pants. That being said- I am and have always been a long only retail punter, so what do I know!!
