As you say until fabrication and validation was complete plenty of time so Ford took forever in legals as well just for a supposed proof of concept deal. I think there is more in that deal than just proof of concept given Ford would have Oked the Press release

BRN being starved for capital encourages the incentive to go slow as could potentially pick up the technology at a liquidation sale unless all the patents reverted to their inventors under the assignment deed as is normal.

The floodgates have been opened with the first movers and the hidden players know the technologies capabilities and market potential.

Waiting is going to have a cost as BRNs knowledgeable resources get tied up in other priorities

Nothing like knowing the technology inside out

So who is blinking now that very credible first movers are out in the open
