Hamsa, I agree in part, but not entirely.

In your example, a concrete driveway with EC which lasts 200 years instead of 50 years (without EC) may seem cheaper, however if we plan on demolishing amd rebuilding in 50 years, then the longer life doesn't help.

For construction with long timespan, there are people who analyse these things and compare upfront costs with replacement and maintenance costs. Our very existence, population forecasting, life expectancy, extreme weather events, all that stuff is modelled by peoples whose very job it is to predict if projects are given a green light or not.

These people do factor in the difference between upfront EC cost and longer lifespan.

These people so far, are not choosing EC.
