You need to read the tea leaves - whilst the various environmental agencies desperately try to exert their influence the Premier and the business community hold the whip hand and are on record that this State wont be held hostage to the whims and fantasies of the Environmental lobby. Our illustrious environmental public servants have been a party to even trying to slow down our iron ore industry by trying to force iron ore miners to be responsible for down stream environmental issues in some far off country to where we export iron ore.
They are NOT getting harder year by year -in many ways its been transformative - mining leases granted and producing in the nickel industry in a year !
My reading of the Govt's position is that there will be no slow down because of the RIO fiasco. Flack maybe but there seems a determination to not let the Environmental lobby dictate the agenda.
But I am concerned that there is a shortage of skilled personnel.
