Could have lost as much too... probably not as quickly mind you. Don't worry, I'm all for Weebit Nano and do think they'll have some degree of success and find at least some market for their technology eventually, if it doesn't turn out to be the revolution many are expecting. It's always a balance between managing risk and maximising profits, and that's going to be different for everyone, and dependant on the current and near term financial position, and other investments or purchases they may be planning (house, land, car, whatever).
