Agree that most battery installations cannot go all day, but they are not intended to. Most chemical storage BESS have a four hour duration at max output. Agree that there will be many of them. Pumped hydro is typically 8 hours plus at max output. Snowy Hydro can produce 6100Mw for 7 days straight...
Research has already been done showing Australia can reach at least 98% renewable sourced energy... https://reneweconomy.com.au/australia-can-be-powered-100-by-renewables-by-early-2030s-says-garnaut-16846/ is a good place to start.
